At least 10 people were killed in a mid-air crash between two Malaysian navy helicopters at the Lumut Naval Base in Perak on Tuesday, Al Jazeera reported. The incident happened around 9:30. The Malaysian Navy confirmed that all 10 crew members had died, saying the bodies had been transferred to the Lumut Naval Base Military Hospital for identification. A video released by local media shows the helicopter taking off. both planes intercepted the other before landing. Meanwhile, the local police have confirmed the authenticity of the footage. According to the BBC, one of the helicopters carrying seven people crashed into the jogging track, while the other crashed into the swimming pool with three people. In an article on X, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and said the country was “saddened by the heartbreaking tragedy”. The incident comes after two crew members were rescued after a Malaysian Coast Guard helicopter crashed into the sea off Malaysia’s Angsa Island last month.

Before that, six people were killed and Deputy Minister of Plant Industry and Commodities Noriah Kasnon. The incident comes a year after Malaysia’s ambassador to the United States, Jamaluddin Jarjis, was killed along with four others after his helicopter crashed in the jungle.
