In the last 24 hours, the Islamabad Metropolitan Police arrested 14 illegal and six professional beggars from different areas of the city and seized drugs and weapons.
He said the police in the capital Islamabad had taken action against criminal elements to eradicate crime from the city.
A Shams Colony police team arrested two accused, Mohammad Imran and Ahsan Raza, and recovered a dagger and eighty grams of heroin from their possession. SabziMandi police team arrested two accused, Liaquat Ali and Asirasir Khan, and recovered 30 pistols from their possession.
Likewise, the Khanna police team arrested the accused Zain Masih, and recovered 508 grams of ganja. Kirpa police team arrested one accused named Sayyam Abbas and recovered 30 pistols from him.
In addition, the Phulgran police team arrested a man identified as Muhammad Afzal, who was involved in the purchase of drugs and seized 520 grams of heroin. The Bani Gala police team arrested one accused, Iftikhar Ahmed, who was involved in drug trafficking and seized 1230 grams of heroin.
A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway. In a crackdown against professional beggars, a police team from the capital Islamabad arrested six professional beggars and registered a case against them under the Beggars Act.
