RAWALPINDI: 17 terrorists were killed and two others were injured in two separate operations by security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.
In a press release, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that in an operation in the Tank district on Monday, “the forces effectively targeted a terrorist hideout, resulting in the detonation of ten terrorists”.
According to ISPR, another encounter took place in Bagh general area of Khyber district, where seven terrorists were shot dead by security forces while two terrorists were injured.

“A large number of weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from dead terrorists who were actively involved in several terrorist activities against security forces and innocent civilians,” he said.
It also said that a sanitization operation was underway to eliminate other terrorists found in the area and that the security forces were “determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country and sacrifices like our brave soldiers only strengthen our resolve”.
Separately, referring to Sunday’s Intelligence Operation (IBO) in Peshawar’s Hasan Khel area, which left five terrorists dead and three others injured, ISPR said that during the operation, “six terrorists were neutralized by security forces and several hideouts were suppressed”. .
Captain Hussain Jehangir and Gawildar Shafiqullah, who were martyred in the same IBO, were laid to rest with full military honors at the original site.
A large number of military personnel, families of martyrs and local people participated in the funeral prayers of the martyrs.
According to ISPR, a total of 23 terrorists were killed in three separate operations in KP between May 26 and 27.
Pakistan has witnessed an increase in terrorist activities, especially in KP and Baluchistan, since the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban militants ceased firing with the government in Pakistan in November 2022.
