26 flights canceled as PIA operations affected due to unavailability of fuel Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight operations have been severely affected with several flights canceled due to unavailability of fuel in the context of the current financial crisis facing this national airline. As many as 26 flights were canceled from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Bahawalpur, Multan, Gwadar and other cities after Pakistan State Oil (PSO) reduced fuel supplies to PIA, sources said. The National Airlines Regulatory Authority is studying the issue and it is expected that fuel supplies will be restored today after the credit line is in place, a PIA spokesperson said at the same time adding that affected passengers will be offered alternative flights. As many as 18 flights from Karachi were cancelled, including three to Islamabad, while two flights to Karachi were also canceled from Lahore and the federal capital respectively. Meanwhile, only three flights will take off from Karachi today as per PIA’s fuel adjustment plan.
