Islamabad: The Presiding Officer Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday administered the oath to 41 newly elected members of parliament.
Two newly elected senators, Faisal Wawda and Maulana Abdul Wasai, were not present at the swearing-in ceremony.
The newly elected senator then signs the list of members. Nasir Mehmood Butt, Anusha Rehman, Abdul Kadoos Bizen. Wali Khan, Raja Nasir Abbas, Hamid Khan, Shahzeeb Durrani, Qurat ul Ain Marri, Rana Mehmoodul Hasan, Ashraf Ali Jatoi, Rubina Kaimhani and others.
In his speech in the assembly, PTI Senator Ali Zafar demanded that the election of chairman and vice chairman be postponed till Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Looking at Article 60 of the Basic Law, he said that the DPR is not full with the Senate Election in the KPK. He said that PTI will not contest the Senate elections till now.
PTI Senator Mohsin Aziz said that according to Article 60 of the Constitution, no election can be held for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker until the composition of the DPR is complete or complete. However, the KPK has no representation in the DPR, so any election held will be illegal, null and unconstitutional.
However, Law and Justice Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said on Tuesday that the House cannot function without its members. Referring to Article 60, “The Senate must, in the first meeting and without further dismissal, after having been duly constituted, elect from among its members the chairman, deputy chairman, and often an office; When the Speaker or Deputy Speaker becomes vacant, the Senate elects the Speaker or Deputy Speaker as is the case. KPK elections are not postponed due to unavoidable circumstances such as natural disasters or extreme events. Therefore, the objection is that delaying the election of the Senate President and Vice President is wrong.
Chief Ishaq Dar said the objection was rejected based on the Law Minister’s reference to the constitution. He asked the elected members to stand and take oath.
