140 people were killed and dozens injured in the 6.4-magnitude earthquake in Nepal.
According to foreign news agencies, the epicenter of the Friday night earthquake was 500 km west of the capital Kathmandu. Several buildings became piles of rubble due to the earthquake. Roads were destroyed and power and communication systems disrupted. Dozens of people were injured in the earthquake while many are still buried under the debris.
Officials say that there are difficulties in carrying out relief operations in remote mountainous areas affected by the earthquake. The Nepali Army is also assisting the civil administration in the relief operations. Death toll from the earthquake is expected to increase. The tremors of the Nepal earthquake were also felt in many areas of India’s capital, New Delhi.
