ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, has said that his party will play the role of a constructive opposition in the National Assembly, offer responsible criticism and positive contributions to the governance of the country. Speaking in the National Assembly on a point of order, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan reiterated PTI’s commitment to support the country’s defense efforts.
He emphasized the party’s unity with the rest of the country to protect its interests and security. Gohar said his party has done away with dynastic politics. He mentioned that even ordinary MNAs like him can become chairman in PTI, which is not possible in other parties.
Asad Qaiser called for the need to implement the quotas allocated for the Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA), which promised a three percent share in the National Finance Commission (NFC) award. Balochistan National Party (Mengal) Chairman Sardar Akhtar Mengal praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, National Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah for winning the elections.
Akhtar Mengal also congratulated the Suni Ithhad Council (SIC) candidates for contesting the elections of Prime Minister Omar Ayub Khan and Speaker and Deputy Speaker Malik Aamir Dogar and Junaid Khan. APPLICATION MQM convener suggests parliamentary committee to probe allegations of rigging.
ISLAMABAD: Convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan, Dr. Maqbool Saddiq on Monday proposed a parliamentary commission to investigate allegations of rigging in the general election.
Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, he said: “I would suggest to the Prime Minister to set up a parliamentary committee to investigate allegations of rigging in the recently held general elections. Khalid Maqool said that his party has always supported the interests of Pakistan over personal interests. He congratulated the people for participating in the elections, the members of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister and the Prime Minister for being elected.
He praised the opposition party for participating in the democratic process despite all reservations. The MQM leader said that Pakistan is currently facing economic challenges and requires good intentions of political leaders to bring the country out of crisis. He said that taxes should be collected from the rich and distributed to the poor.
He called on political parties to work towards strengthening democracy and parliament; otherwise undemocratic forces would take advantage of it. He said that a dialogue between political parties should be initiated to get the country out of all crises. He said constitutional changes should be made to strengthen the local government system.
