Washington: Joe Biden and Donald Trump hit the campaign trail in New York on Thursday, as the Democratic president prepared for a star-studded fundraiser where the former Republican and 2024 rivals paid tribute to fallen police officers.
Trump made a brief statement Monday after visiting police officer Jonathan Diller, who was shot and killed in a parking lot.
Trump’s delegation marked the event with Biden’s fortune to co-host alongside former Democratic presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, who organizers said received $25 million.
“President Trump respects Officer Diller’s legacy and respects his family, friends and the NYPD,” Republican spokesman Stephen Chung said.
“Meanwhile, the Three Stooges – Biden, Obama and Clinton – will join the big fundraisers in town with select celebrities.”
White House Biden called New York City Mayor Eric Adams to express condolences on Diller’s death.
The Democrat has not been in contact with the officer’s family but said he was “grieving” with them, while spokeswoman Karine-en-Pierre said the president “has stood by law enforcement throughout his career and continues to stand by them.”
Anne-Pierre said Wednesday that Biden is “very grateful for the sacrifices police officers make to keep our communities safe.”
The Biden fundraiser will be a showdown between the three Democratic frontrunners moderated by late-night television comedian Stephen Colbert.
Lizzo and Queen Latifah, among others, will perform at the event in front of 5,000 people at Radio City Music Hall in midtown Manhattan.
The star-studded fundraiser was the first event attended by three Democratic presidents.
According to NBC News, visitors can pay up to $100,000 to take a photo with the trio.
The campaign’s top fundraiser, Jeffrey Katzenberg, told Vice: “The numbers don’t lie: today’s event is a true reflection of the strength and re-election of the Biden-Harris ticket.” President Kamala. Harris.

Biden has better campaign funds than his Republican opponents, using funds raised by his supporters for legal fees in numerous lawsuits.
