Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Sunday rejected former prime minister Imran Khan’s allegations against top military officials over the Toshakhana issue, calling them “false, misleading and baseless”.
The former prime minister admitted that the top military leader was “fit” for him and his wife Bushra Bibi “to hold my spirit” in reference to Toshakhana.
Imran and his wife were sentenced to 14 years in prison in the January case, days before the February 8 general election.
Last week, the Islamabad High Court upheld the verdict, but the appeal of the accused in the case is still pending.
A post shared by Imran’s official account on X gave a transcript of his interview with a journalist at Adiala Jail on Saturday. Imran claimed that senior military leaders were “managing the affairs of the country”.
Talking about the ‘London plan’, the PTI founder had also mentioned in the previous event that the current army chief and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had ‘planned with nexus’ and ‘planned to execute’. judges appointed by Inter-Services Intelligence.
The former prime minister also claimed to have informed the military leaders through former president Arif Alvi that he was aware of the so-called “London Plan” and that “we are not your enemies”.
Last year, Imran challenged the army chief to prove the corruption case against him and his wife.
Tarar today responded to the allegations against him, saying he had acted out of “frustration and desperation”.
In his post on X, the minister said the allegations were “absolutely false, misleading and baseless”.
