Islamabad: Negotiations between the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and Dutch coach Roelant Oltmans have failed before the start of the national hockey camp at Bunda Stadium from April 16.
PHF is now looking for another opportunity as the head coach of the national team for two back-to-back international tournaments, starting with the Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia from May 4-10.
The PHF has decided that a foreign coach other than Oltmans will be hired as the head coach at this international level and for future commitments.
“We decided to hire a foreigner as head coach, but not Oltmans. Negotiations started with several international coaches from Spain and the Netherlands. We hope to be able to identify the best contenders for the top job in the next few days.
PHF will soon announce the names of camp commanders and assistant coaches from the 16th day in Islamabad.

The first phase of the camp will begin on April 16 before the team’s Azlan Shah Cup tournament begins in Ipoh on May 4. Pakistan, New Zealand, Korea, Malaysia, Japan, and Canada will participate in Azlan Shah’s hockey.
