LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board has awarded Pakistan international media rights for the Pakistan vs West Indies women’s series in Pakistan for $99,000.
According to the details, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had set a reserve price of around $21 million for the three-year international media rights, but no one could match that.
Media groups in Pakistan and private companies joined as a consortium to bid, with foreign companies Willow and Five Sports also involved in the bid. Among them, Sport Five received the highest bid of $7.8 million.
The Pakistani company offered about $4.1 million, while Willow offered $2.25 million. If the reserve price is not met, the board proposed another round of bidding and offered bidders to raise the price.
In the second round, Sport Five maintained its previous offer of $7.8 million, while the Pakistani company doubled its offer to $7.85 million. However, the PCB once again rejected the proposal as it did not meet the reserve price.
The result is a special match for the home series against New Zealand and the women’s series against the West Indies. During this process, two Pakistani companies jointly bid $99,000 (about 27.6 million Pakistani rupees), Willow $75,000, and Sport Five $50,000.
The five-match T20I series between Pakistan and New Zealand will be played from April 18 to April 27 in Rawalpindi and Lahore, while the women’s series featuring Pakistan and West Indies will be followed by three ODIs and five T20Is from April 18 to May. 3 Karaji.
