A consortium of Japanese telecommunications companies has developed a high-speed 6G wireless device that can transfer data 20 times faster than 5G, so you can download high-definition movies in seconds.
This gadget is capable of up to 100 gigabytes per second (Gbit/s) of data transfer and is effective at a distance of 330 feet (100 meters).
The partnership includes four firms: DOCOMO, NTT Corporation, NEC Corporation and Fujitsu, which joined together for this project. Starting in 2021, these companies are jointly researching and developing sub-terahertz devices to anticipate the arrival of the 6G technology era.
According to the statement, the test successfully achieved “100 Gb/s ultra-high-speed transmission in the 100 GHz and 100 GHz bands.”
The project is currently facing several significant hurdles that developers must overcome. This includes determining what performance standards wireless devices operating in the sub-terahertz band must meet.
Experts predict the potential for seamless high-speed connectivity in future technology is limitless, enabling ultra-HD video streaming, real-time control in autonomous vehicles, and more.
