Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa on Monday condemned the Faizabad bench inquiry report as “very disappointing” and said he was “shocked” after reading the document.
JJP made these comments after a three-member bench headed by him submitted the report of the inquiry team set up to probe the Faizabad seat, hearing the federal government’s review petition.
Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Naeem Akhtar Awan were also present on the occasion.
The Faizabad Assembly Group was formed on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan after the 2017 Faizabad party case under Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) leader Khadim Hussain Rizvi. and former CEO Punjab Rangers General (Major) Azhar Naveed Hayat.
Hearing day
At the beginning of the trial, the Attorney General of Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan read the report of the investigation team.
“What has the commission done? It is just wasting time.
JJP said, “I was surprised to read the report, they must have made the right judgment about who broke the rules.”
The CJP questioned the commission’s entry, saying the commission did not make any “findings”. “If this decision was taken in the Faizabad Assembly, the May 9 incident would not have happened,” he said.
CJP Isa asked the AGP whether any members of Tehreek-e-Laibbaik Pakistan (TLP) were summoned. AGP answered in the negative.

The CJP expressed displeasure with the report, saying the commission had only submitted a report with the words contained in it.
Former spymaster Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz asked Hamed how many times he had been addressed. “All this seems to have been done to atone for General Faiz’s mistakes,” he said.
CJP asked how many times Gen (retd) Faiz was summoned, AGP said “once”.
AGP Awan said that General (Retd) Faiz had sent the questionnaire and sent his response.
The CJP at this point said, “Army is part of this government. How can it be sacred?”
Then Absar Alam, the former chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), took the stage, saying that he was also mentioned in the report.
JJP told Alamy that Gen (former) Faiz had contacted him. However, the report said there is no evidence between the two.
The Chief Justice held that it was not right to accept one statement and reject the other.
Justice Akhtar said the commission accepted Alam’s oath but did not accept Faiz’s statement.
“We have not supported the commission’s report,” said CJP Isa.
The attorney general asked for two weeks to inform the court about the government’s response to the report.
The Supreme Court said that the commission members can respond to the preliminary observations of the court if they wish. “KPU members can present their positions in writing or appear in court if they wish,” he said.
“I think the commission members will assure you that they have given a very good report,” he said.
In a brief order issued after the hearing, the AGP stated whether it intends to file a report on behalf of the government.
It also ordered the government to inform the inquiry team about the court’s examination of the documents. The court ordered the commission members to respond to the comments in writing or by visiting the court in person.
