A delegation from Pak Council of World Religions-Faith Friends (PCWR-FF) visited the Commissioner of the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) of Pakistan to discuss collaborative efforts towards the implementation of the Hindu Marriage Act, 2017 rules of Business in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the meeting, Mr. Tariq Javed, Commissioner of NCHR, and Qari Roohullah Madani, Chairman of PCWR-FF, formally agreed to solidify joint initiatives aimed at addressing the challenges associated with the implementation of the Hindu Marriage Act, 2017. The discussions revolved around identifying and overcoming hurdles and obstacles in this regard, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the constitutional rights of citizens to enjoy personal family laws.
As part of the agreed-upon plan, Commissioner Tariq Javed instructed his provincial staff to convene a meeting on 15th May 2024 with a diverse group of stakeholders representing minority communities, including those involved in Christian, Hindu, and Sikh marriage acts. The objective of this meeting is to enhance clarity and foster collaboration in the implementation process.
The signing of the MoU was a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to promote interfaith harmony and protect the rights of minority communities in Pakistan. Provincial Coordinator Mr. Rizwanullah represented NCHR, while Qari Roohullah Madani represented PCWR-FF, signing the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.
The delegation from PCWR-FF included Project Manager Maqsood Ahmad Salafi, along with Coordinators Adeeba Adil and Mr. Muhammad Asim, who actively participated in the discussions and shared insights on advancing the objectives of the collaboration.
This collaborative endeavor underscores the commitment of both organizations to uphold the principles of human rights, religious freedom, and equality for all citizens, irrespective of their faith backgrounds.
