The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (PDRE) and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Thursday agreed to cooperate in various educational sectors including science and technology, agriculture, health and ICT.
H.E. Jamal Baker Abdulla, Representative Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of FDR Ethiopia to Pakistan and H.E. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
The meeting held at the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad mainly discussed ways to develop cooperation in the field of education to exchange knowledge, skills and experience.
H.E. Ambassador Jamal Baker FDR said that the Ethiopian government intends to strengthen the bilateral relationship that has developed between the two countries through educational diplomacy.
“Cooperation in the field of education can be important to establish a long and lasting relationship between the two countries,” he said, recalling the desire of Ethiopian medical professionals educated in Pakistani universities to help Pakistani victims. flood in 2022.
He indicated that in 2023, delegations from universities in Ethiopia will visit Pakistan to establish institutional cooperation between the two countries in Ethiopia.

On the other hand, the Chairman of HEC briefed the Prime Minister about development and digitization in the education sector, including the creation of digital libraries and smart classrooms, which will allow education for millions of students in Pakistan and abroad.
He assured the Ambassador of his full support to strengthen cooperation and collaboration in the field of education between Ethiopia and Pakistan.
The President of the Council of Europe extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to visit the HEC headquarters and asked him to facilitate the exchange of delegations between the two countries to promote cooperation in the field of education.
“Let us help each other in education to build a strong nation for global prosperity,” he said.
He informed the ambassador about the opening of the Global Relations Unit at HEC, which will be a desk for Africa with a special focus on Ethiopia.
