Islamabad: Pakistan on Friday rejected a recent decision by the Supreme Court of India which upheld the unilateral decision of the Indian government to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating Article 370 of the Constitution in 2019.
“We reject the new order of the Supreme Court of India as we rejected the previous order of December 11, 2023. The two decisions do not recognize the internationally recognized nature of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute… The decision of the Supreme Court of India cannot ignore the international community’s attention to human rights violations which is severe and systematic in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” Foreign Minister Mumtaz Zahra Buluch’s spokesperson said at a weekly press conference.
He said Kashmiris have an inalienable right to self-determination as enshrined in the UN Security Council resolution.
The spokesman welcomed the recognition of the State of Palestine by Ireland, Spain and Norway, following similar announcements by the Bahamas, Tobago, Jamaica and Barbados, calling it an important milestone in the decades-long quest of the Palestinian people. determine
He stressed the importance of the genocide and the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
In his press interview, the press secretary said that the state of Palestine has been recognized by the majority of UN member states, and the UN Security Council demands positive action in this regard.
