Islamabad: Journalist and YouTuber Imran Riaz reportedly boarded a flight for Haj at Islamabad airport on Monday.
Last week, Islamabad High Court Justice (IHC) Chief Justice Adalat Farooq allowed Imran to go to Saudi Arabia for Hajj.
During the hearing, the judge said Imran’s name was placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) based on the recommendation of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
After the argument, the court allowed the journalist to go abroad.
Imran Riaz has now decided to bring the matter to court.
On March 28, federal ministers agreed to include the names of 24 people in the ECL. Notable names confirmed to be included in the ECL include journalists Sami Ibrahim and Imran Riaz Khan.
Both have been placed in ECL due to ongoing investigations.
However, the ministers insisted on removing 22 names of people, including PTI leader Babar Awan, from the ECL.
The decision comes amid efforts to regulate ECL and resolve legal issues and prevent those under investigation from leaving the country.
Imran last year moved the Lahore High Court (LHC) to remove him from the Exit Control List (ECL) and Passport Control List (PCL), saying his name was added “based on presumption” in an improper and random manner.
