DALLAS: Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir is on the same verge as India’s Harbhajan Singh record for the most wickets in the history of the tournament in the T20 World Cup.
Amir made a name for himself in international cricket after his recent retirement and was immediately included in the Pakistan squad for the T20I series against New Zealand, Ireland and England. He eventually joined the squad for the World Cup.
Amir, who was part of the team that won the 2009 T20 World Cup, will have high expectations when he returns to international cricket after four years to help the Green Shirts win the mega tournament.
The left-handed pacer has played in the T20 World Cup three times so far – in 2009, 2010 and 2016 – and has bowled a maiden in each edition. In 2009, he conceded a maiden goal in the final against Sri Lanka.
In the 2010 World Cup, the left-hander claimed another goal in the group match against Australia. Meanwhile, in the T20 World Cup 2016, Amir scored a maiden against India.
