Release of leaders, electoral transparency on cards as PTI picks Achakzai to lead talks

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) asked Chairman Mahmud Khan Achakzai of Pakhtunkhwa National Amamiami Party (PkMAP) to lead talks through the platform of opposition alliance Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Ayeen. (TTAP).
Sources said it came after the PTI leadership advocated using the TTAP platform to hold talks with stakeholders.
Meanwhile, PkMAP chairman Achakzai, who will be given full authority to lead the discussion, will take further action in this regard after the PTI’s decision is finalised.
With the development of consensus among all stakeholders on a common charter that will be the basis of negotiations, the talks will focus on issues related to the release of imprisoned leaders and workers, electoral transparency, and the constitutional limits of the judiciary and parliament. . and other government agencies.
Apart from that, PTI political leaders will be part of the talks.
The development came a day after PTI chief Barrister Gohar said that jailed party founder Imran Khan had been cleared for talks with the government and that the party would start talks after talking to Achakzai.
The PTI chief said that the former prime minister wanted the channel of dialogue to be opened. He told reporters that he was willing to forgive what had happened to reconcile with Khan.
“I am ready to forgive what happened to me,” the PTI chief said several times.
“The option given by the SC is also being examined,” said Barrister Gohar when asked whether the talks would be conducted on the advice of the Supreme Court.
However, he said it was PTI’s “own decision” to hold talks.
“The founder of PTI did not write to the SC for talks. PTI will also respond to the possibility of talks.”
Sources told Geo News that the PTI leader’s speech came as Khan decided to “back down” from his firm stand and ordered the party leadership to communicate inside and outside Parliament.
Sources said the party’s leadership is focused on holding talks with several political parties outside Parliament, and its members of parliament have also been asked to develop ties with the party in the governing coalition government.
