Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday visited the Jagran-2 hydroelectric power plant under construction in Neelum district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The Deputy Prime Minister was informed about the construction of a 50MW power plant. The Jagran-2 project is on schedule and will be completed by 2025, according to a press release.
Expressing satisfaction and appreciation for the progress of the project, DPM Ishaq Dar said that he will take up the matter at ECNEC to track this approval through early action. He also met Chinese engineers and Pakistani teams working on the Jagran-2 project.
Dar conveyed the best wishes of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Government of Pakistan to the engineers, technicians and laborers working on the project and assured the full support and security of the Government of Pakistan for its timely completion.
He expressed confidence that the project will contribute significantly to the generation of electricity in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and benefit the local people in terms of employment, education, agriculture, industrial development and tourism.
The Deputy Prime Minister visited the Jagran-1 hydroelectric plant in Neelum district on Tuesday.
He expressed satisfaction over the performance of the 30.4 MW Jagran-I, which was established, approved and financed during the tenure of former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif as finance minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, between 1997 and 1999.
