Islamabad: Interior and Narcotics Control Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Wednesday that the war against drugs and human trafficking cannot be effective.
“We must recognize that the war on drugs and human trafficking cannot be achieved unless we as a nation unite in this noble cause to make Pakistan a healthy, drug-free society.”
Naqvi said this in a letter issued today on the occasion of the International Day against Drugs and Illicit Trafficking.
Judging from the harmful effects of drugs on our society, he said, fighting drugs should be a national priority.

Anti-Narcotics Minister: “I call on all citizens to join us in this important work. Prevention is at the heart of our strategy and we must prioritize prevention education, public engagement and strong law enforcement to prevent the spread of drugs.
Mohsin Naqvi said, “Let us reaffirm our resolve to build a healthier, drug-free Pakistan. Together, we can take important steps to safeguard the well-being of our nation and future generations.”
As we celebrate the International Day against Drugs and Illicit Trafficking, we are clearly reminded of the dangers of drug abuse in our society, he said, facing the dire effects that are tearing the fabric of Pakistan. society with many problems including crime, violence, poor health and loss of productivity.
Realizing the enormity of this challenge, he said that the Government of Pakistan is taking comprehensive action against drugs and their illegal trade through the National Anti-Drug Policy 2019.
He said the policy includes an integrated approach to reduce drug demand, drug supply reduction and international cooperation.
This strategic pillar is at the heart of what we are doing to combat the spread of drugs and controlled substances across our nation, he said.
