Cricket has been called the game of gentleman because of the practical demonstration of sportsmanship. Cricket players get to enjoy the different phases of this long-winded game and learn something new in every match to deal with nerve-wracking situations.
Big teams in the world of cricket always get up after falling down but this is possible only when efforts are made, when the morale is lost that team can never get up and constantly out of the competition.
A vivid example of such demoralized teams in the history of cricket is the two-time World Cup champion West Indies, who have been out of the world race due to their shortcomings and mistakes.
The Pakistan cricket team have not such a bad time, as recently it has won the honor of world number one team but the series loss in Sri Lanka and the humiliating defeat by India in the Asia Cup and the World Cup have left the national team devastated.
The national team had not yet come out of this shock when it was defeated by the emerging team of Afghanistan for the first time. Due to that heavy defeat cricket fans around the world including Pakistan have expressed extreme irritation.
In the match played in Chennai on Monday Afghanistan outclassed the world number one team and defeated them in every field on which team Afghanistan should be appreciated. Afghanistan achieved the target of 288 runs given by the Pakistan at the loss of just two wickets.
The Afghan batsmen completely failed the Pakistani pacers and Spain bowling attack during the match while the fielders did not support the bowlers and many boundaries that could have been saved turned into fours due to sluggish fielding. Overthrow runs were also given in abundance which did not allow the Bowlers to raise their heads.
Except Hasan Ali none of the Pakistan bowlers tried to fight against the Afghans while the captaincy of Babar Azam at that time was also seen as club level. He made wrong decisions on many occasions due to which the journey became easy for Afghans.
At one point when the same number of runs were required off 30 balls captain Babar Azam give bowling to Usama Mir instead of Hasan Ali and turned the tide of the match towards Afghanistan.
Earlier Pakistan’s batting also failed miserably, if the last partnership between Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed would not made perhaps Pakistan would not been able to score even 230 runs.
It should be noted that Pakistan cricket team started the batting well when Imamul Haq got out, then captain Bar Azam and Abdullah Shafiq played in a better manner and brought the score to 130. It should be remembered that earlier Abdullah Shafiq was playing fast but the captain advised him to play slow, on which he lost his momentum and because of this he also lost his wicket. After that the Pakistani batsmen made the line to get out and none of the players could play well.
On Pakistan’s defeat former players say that Babur and Co. played exactly club-level cricket in front of the inexperienced Afghanistan due to which they faced a historic defeat in the World Cup.
This is not the first time in the history of Pakistan cricket team, Pakistan has lost to Ireland before but this time they have been defeated by a team that is not allowed to go to their country. Despite of such a bad performance there is a chance for the Pakistan, if they show decent cricket in the remaining matches of the World Cup, they can make it to the semi-finals.
But for this every player including the captain will have to play quality cricket without pressure, otherwise his conditions may be even worse.
