DUBAI: Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Chairman Mirwais Ashraf and CEO Naseeb Khan traveled to Colombo to attend the International Cricket Council (ICC) Annual Board Meeting where they met PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
During the meeting, ACB officials assured Naqvi about Afghanistan’s participation in the Champions Trophy 2025, which Pakistan will host in February and March.
They dismissed rumors suggesting Afghanistan could skip the tournament and emphasized their excitement at competing for their first Champions Trophy.
At the ICC meeting, PCB chairman Naqvi also engaged in a friendly discussion with BCCI secretary Jay Shah, although there were no formal talks regarding the bilateral series.
In addition, the ACB revealed plans to potentially host a youth tri-series involving Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the near future.
The ACB said in a press release that discussions also covered the A team’s tours to Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, with details of dates and venues to follow.
“Discussions also included the A team tours to Bangladesh and Zimbabwe and the possibility of a youth tri-series against Pakistan and the UAE, with dates and venues to be confirmed,” the ACB said in a press release.
