DUBAI: The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced on Wednesday that it has imposed a five-year ban from all cricket activities on their top batsman Ihsanullah Jannat due to corruption.
The ban will take effect immediately after he breached anti-corruption measures by both the ACB and the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the Kabul Premier League earlier this year.
The ACB said in its press release that Janat was found guilty of violating Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.
“Top-order batsman Ihsanullah Janat has been banned from all forms of cricket activities for five years after breaching the ACB and ICC anti-corruption codes during the 2nd edition.
“Janat was found guilty of breaching Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which includes improperly influencing or attempting to fix the result, procedure, conduct or any other aspect of a match. In light of this breach, he was given a five-year ban from all cricket-related activities. Janat pleaded guilty to the charges and admitted to participating in corrupt activities.
“The ban on Ihsanullah Janat will come into force immediately after the publication of this statement and will remain in force for the next five years.
Ihsanullah played for Shamshad Eagles in Kabul Premier League 2024 and scored 72 runs in four innings.
