TALASH: The chairman Al-Khidmat Foundation (AKF) Orphan care program retired Air Marshal Farooq Habib has said that all sections of society should play their vital role in educating and caring the orphan children. He said that without the support of philanthropists and wealthy persons it was not possible to care the orphans. He expressed these views while addressing a function after the meeting of the Board of Governors of Aghosh Al-Khidmat Gulabad center in Lower Dir here on Sunday. The function was also addressed by the Aghosh Al-Khidmat national director retired Air Marshal Arshad Malik, , secretary BoG Saeedullah, board members retired Professor Kaleemullah, Fazal Mahmood and others.
The speakers appreciated the Al-Khidmat Foundation’s Orphan Care Program and encouraged the Aghoshian children. They said that the sponsorship of an orphan child was equal to the sponsorship of a whole family. The speakers urged the Aghoshian children to work hard to enlighten the name of their family and country.
Earlier, the annual meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) of the Aghosh Al-Khidmat Gulabad was chaired by its chairman Shahab Hussain. The board members including Fazal Mahmood, Hafizullah Khaksar, Professor Kaleemullah, journalist Haleem Asad, Zakir Hussain, Mohammad Ilyas, Khalid Arsalan, Retired Air Marshal Farooq Habib, Retired Air Marshal Arshad Malik and others addressed the meeting. The BOG Secretary Saeedullah informed the participants about the last year’s decisions, annual progress, budget, activities of the orphanage and future plans. The board appreciated the role and management of the centre and approved its annual budget. The meeting approved the purchase of additional land, purchase of a bus for the transport of orphan children staying at the center, installation of solar system and expansion of the center. It is to be noted that the Aghosh Al-Khidmat Gulabad has been providing free education, healthcare, residence and food to a total of 84 orphans from the Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Malakand, Chitral, Buner and Bajaur districts. The meeting was informed that Rs 13 million as donation would be collected from various sources for the next fiscal year.
