PAKISTAN: In the latest Brand Financial Report 2024 Global Top 250 Hospitals, Aga Khan University Hospital Karachi (AKUH) has entered the list of top 100 academic medical centers in the world. AKUH is the first and only hospital from Pakistan to feature in the top 100 list.
Three Indian hospitals are also in the top 100, and one in the 101-250 list.
According to The Joint Commission International (JCI), the world’s leading hospital accreditation agency, considered the gold standard in health care, “An academic medical center is a tertiary care hospital. It was the first hospital to receive ISO certification in 2000, JCI accreditation in 2006, JCI accreditation as an AMC in 2015 and CAP accreditation in 2017.

This year, the top two AMCs in the world are world-renowned US hospitals, Mayo Clinic and Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by India’s AIIMS in third and Singapore General Hospital in fourth.
