Peshawar: Another series of rains, strong winds and snowfall in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is likely to begin from February 25, a Meteorological Department official said here on Friday.
In this regard, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a notice to all district administrations to be alert. With regard to the rains and snowfall, the district administration was ordered to take preventive measures. DG, PDMA Muhammad Qaiser Khan said here.
Landslides in the upper districts due to snowfall and rains and directives have been issued to the district administration to ensure availability of small and heavy equipment, DG PDMA told reporters.
He said people should stay away from power lines, dilapidated buildings and structures, sign boards and billboards in the event of a thunderstorm. Tourists and locals in sensitive upland areas are advised to be aware of weather conditions and take precautionary measures, he added.
He further said that in sensitive areas, messages to the district administration should be conveyed to local people in local languages.

In any emergency situation, all the concerned organizations should be alert to maintain road links and alternate routes should be provided for traffic in case of road closure, he directed the concerned department.
Travelers should be warned in advance on provincial and national highways in sensitive areas.
He said that during this time to ensure the availability of emergency service personnel and tourists should be informed about the weather situation. He said rains and snowfall are likely to continue intermittently till February 27, while tourists should take extra precautions while traveling to these areas.
