Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq held a fruitful meeting with Ambassador of Iran H.E. Dr. Amiri Moghaddam, in the parliament building in Islamabad. The discussion covered various topics with a focus on strengthening parliamentary and economic relations between Iran and Pakistan.
During the meeting, Spokesperson Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep-rooted brotherly bond with Iran, steeped in common history, culture and religion. He emphasized the need to further strengthen these ties by expanding cooperation in all areas of common interest, especially in energy and trade, with the aim of uplifting the economies of both nations, especially those living on both sides of the common border.
The lecturer emphasized the strategic geographical location of both countries, which represents significant opportunities for regional and global connections and support of trade. While acknowledging the positive trajectory of bilateral trade, he noted that there is untapped potential that both countries should explore. He stressed the importance of wholeheartedly addressing outstanding issues such as those related to banking, trade, transport and energy. He also expressed optimism regarding the resolution of the problems associated with the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the key role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations and expressed the intention to regularly actively engage all relevant stakeholders to support the government’s efforts in achieving the common goal of expanded economic cooperation.
Ambassador H.E. Dr. Amiri Moghaddam congratulated Chairman Ayaz Sadiq on his re-election and warmly greeted Ramadan. He appreciated the spokesperson’s vision for collective growth and assured full commitment and cooperation from Iran in all fields. The Ambassador also informed the Chairman about the upcoming visit of the President of Iran to Pakistan and emphasized its importance for deepening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation in various sectors.
Chairman Sardar Ayaz Sadiq thanked the Ambassador for his kind words and promised joint efforts to strengthen the bond between Pakistan and Iran.
