RAWALPINDI: Pakistan left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir praised all-rounder Babar Azam and the team management for creating a positive atmosphere in the dressing room as the T20 World Cup 2024 approaches.
Amir, 31, is returning to international cricket after almost four years as he retired following an impressive performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024.
In the second T20I, Pakistan beat New Zealand as the Green Shirts bundled out coming for just 90 in the first innings and chased down 47 with Mohammad Rizwan top scorer for the winning side.
After the match, Amir held a press conference where he congratulated the management of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Babar and said that they played their part in creating a positive team environment which will be important during the upcoming World Cup.
“In the previous video recording with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), I gave credit to the management. “Russia and teenagers get along well. Our goal is to win the World Cup and that’s our only goal, and we believe that if we maintain a good team environment, we can help the team in a big way.”
Remember, Amir, playing his first game against Pakistan since 2019, stole and dismissed Tim Robinson for just four runs in his first game.
Amir, as in the second innings, took the wicket of Foxcroft with Babar Azam for a simple wicket.
He finished his spell with figures of 2/13 in three overs and was a key figure for Pakistan’s bowling line-up.
