LAHORE: Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir aims to finish his “unfinished business” in the T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies.
Amir is likely to be part of Pakistan’s squad for the World Cup, which starts on June 1.
Amir, who returned to the Pakistan side after four years, was part of England’s 2009 T20 World Cup winning campaign.
“It’s a great feeling to play for Pakistan again,” Amir told AFP.
“I have wish to finish unfinished business for me, short-term goal is to win World Cup.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board and the team management have given me confidence, so I have to act on that confidence,” he said.
After featuring in the recently concluded T20I series against New Zealand at home, Amir is excited to play for Pakistan again.
“I’m back after four years and the feeling of playing for your country is indescribable.”
“Honestly, I’m more confident than I was in 2019 and you can’t express yourself until it’s too late, so I’m ready to do better and better.”
Amir also remembered his 2009 T20 World Cup triumph, taking six wickets in seven matches.
“Memory of winning ICC T20 World Cup in 2009 was special and still haunts me to this day.”
“I was selected for the first time, and then became part of the winning team.
“I’m happy to play now. When I arrived, I was the youngest in the team, so I have another chance to win the World Cup and that’s my goal and my team’s goal.”
