MADRID: Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is determined to find a place for new signing Kylian Mbappe in the Real Madrid squad for the 2024/25 season.
Mbappe, 25, was unveiled in front of a packed Santiago Bernabeu after signing a five-year deal with the European champions that will keep him in the Spanish capital until 2029.
Madrid have been after Mbappe since 2017 and after finally signing him, Los Blancos will look to get the most out of his signing. The Frenchman will also lead the attack with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes alongside him, having been given the number nine by the club.
Ancelotti was asked where Mbappe will play next season, to which the Italian replied: “We’ll put him somewhere, I’ll find a place for him.”
When asked about the role Mbappe will play, Ancelotti looked relaxed and confident.
Ancelotti then spoke about Jude Bellingham, who had a stellar first season at Los Blancos, scoring 23 goals and providing 13 assists to help the Whites win La Liga and the Champions League.
“Bellingham’s success was surprising, but it was largely down to his genetics. At just 21, he showed immense character and passion. Genetics play a significant role in his performance, although training is also important,” the Italian said of the Englishman.
Ancelotti was then asked about his future and where he will be coaching once his future at Madrid ends, having previously been heavily linked with the Brazilian national team.
“I don’t know when I will retire. When I get tired of Madrid, I will have to think about what to do,” Ancelotti said. “Leave? I don’t know. On the one hand, I’d like to spend more time with my family and travel, but if I still have enthusiasm, I’m sure I’ll find the impetus to continue,” he said.
“Honestly, I’m reluctant [to coach the national team]. I prefer the work that is done in the clubs, because I like the time to improve, to live day by day, and that is difficult in the national team,” he added.
