Lords: Veteran England pacer James Anderson will continue working with the team’s coaching staff after playing the final Test match against West Indies at Lord’s Cricket Ground next week.
The 41-year-old Anderson is regarded as England’s greatest pacer and the only pacer to take 700 wickets in red-ball cricket as he created unparalleled history throughout his career with the country.
The game against the West Indies will be Anderson’s 188th and final red-ball game for England, but he will be out of the picture after that, with England manager Rob Key confirming he has asked him to stay with the team in the summer.
“England cricket has a lot to offer.“When we asked him, he was very interested, he would have a lot of options in England cricket if he chose to stay in the game.
“What he did with Lancashire will pay after the Lord’s trial,” said Key.So far, everyone has been preparing for this test match.”
Last year, Anderson’s long-time bowling partner Stuart Broad decided to end his career and bid farewell to the legend, after booking a ticket and the last wicket to play England in the Ashes.
