The irony is that our governments have assured the international financial institutions that they will take all measures to obtain and use the loans that are included in their conditions, but no government has yet assured the nation that corruption, money laundering and defamation will be punished harshly while those involved will not be hired again in any key position.
It has to be said with great regret that this is not the case at all besides the opposition parties have been accused of rigging, money laundering and defamation in every round of government. Which means that in every regime black sheep’s have washed their hands in this flowing (river) Ganga.
Because of which the country and nation have been trolled in every era. Yesterday the federal government has once again assured the IMF to prevent corruption, bribery and money laundering, for which the intention of the government should not be doubted because it has done this to restore the reputation of the country.
All the active forces should think that they should not commit any act that will bring the country and the nation into disrepute.
It should be noted that the International Monetary Fund has also been assured by the government to end political interference in anti-corruption institutions including NAB.
According to the copy of the intent, the government has assured comprehensive reforms to prevent corruption, bribery and money laundering. It has been asked by the government to end political interference in anti-corruption institutions including NAB and make them transparent.
An anti-corruption framework report will be published with the approval of the cabinet, while the information on assets declared by public representatives and cabinet members will be made public. It has been declared a priority.
According to the document the public will be given access to the information of the assets disclosed by public representatives and cabinet members. The commitment has been expressed to make institutions including NAB transparent and efficient for investigating and punishing corruption cases.
The document further states that NAB’s jurisdiction will be determined for the appointment of Chairman NAB on merit and investigation. The Anti-Corruption Task Force will publish its report in March. The task force will include experts with international experience and civil society.
The government has further stated in a written assurance to the IMF that the asset declaration and banking system will be brought in line with the best prevailing global practices. The report will be published under the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
We hope that the assurance given to the International Financial Institution by the current federal government will be implemented by the elected governments and corruption will be eradicated along with curbing money laundering, the laws prevailing in the country will also be tightened so as to prevent corruption at the official level in the country.
If the incoming political governments do not try to bring real reforms in the country then in the future, bribery and corruption may increase in the country. Therefore it is necessary that the parties involved in the race to form the next government, in which the Pakistan People’s Party and the Muslim League (N) are the influential, should solve other problems of the country as well as control corruption. Keep in mind that when these parties come to power, they take practical steps to eradicate corruption from the country for which they are blaming each other.
If steps had been taken by these parties to prevent corruption in the past, the country would not have to see that day and it would not have been trolled all over the world. It is hoped that in the future the reputation of the country will not be affected because of these politicians and elites.
