KARACHI: Pakistan recorded another draw in the ongoing Asian Hockey Champions Trophy at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia, China. The Green Shirts’ clash against South Korea ended in a 2-2 draw after they failed to defend a two-goal lead.
South Korea took the lead when they scored a goal in the second quarter that remained untouched until the third quarter. The Pakistan team failed to score any goal in the third quarter and were trailing by one goal. However, in the fourth quarter, the Pakistani team staged an impressive comeback as Hanan Shahid scored two quick goals.
However, before the game could end, Korea scored another goal to tie the game. Pakistan are yet to secure any Champions Trophy win. Yesterday’s match against Malaysia also ended in a 2:2 draw. The national team will play their third game on Wednesday against Japan.
The eighth edition of the Asian Champions Trophy kicked off on Sunday at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia, China. India are the defending champions after winning a record fourth title at Chennai 2023.
India also entered the tournament after winning a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics last month. The tournament began on 8 September, during which the six participating teams will play each other in a round robin format before the top four teams qualify for the semi-finals. The semi-finals are scheduled for September 16, the match for third place in the play-offs and the final will take place on September 17.
