Peshawar: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said 63 people were killed and 78 injured in rain-related incidents.
PDMA issued a report on the loss of life and property in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) due to heavy rains on Sunday.
The dead included 33 children, 15 men and 15 women, and the injured included 17 women, 37 men and 24 children.
A total of 3,202 houses were damaged in the report, of which 477 were completely damaged and 2,725 were partially damaged.
Financial losses were reported from several districts of Khyber, Upper and Lower Dir, Upper Chitral, Swat, Bajaur, Shangla, Mansehra, Mohmand, Malakand, Karak, Tank, Mardan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Buner, due to heavy rains. Hangu, Batagram, Bannu, North and South Waziristan, Kohat, DI Khan and Orakzai.
On the direction of the Prime Minister, the PDMA released $110 million to the affected district administrations for financial assistance and relief measures to the affected families.
In addition, $90 million has been released for relief efforts in tribal areas.
With financial support, PDMA has provided relief items to the affected districts of Swat, Lower Chitral, Bajaur, Lower Kohistan, Peshawar, Nowshera, Mohmand, Upper Dir, Tank, Shangla, Torghar and DI Khan.
Aid equipment includes tents, mattresses, kitchen sets, blankets, mattresses, tarpaulins, solar lamps and other daily necessities.
Relief operations are underway in rain-affected districts by PDMA and other organizations.
As the rain is predicted to continue till April 21, the PDMA has sent a letter to all the district governments to be alert and take precautionary measures.
The PDMA emergency operation center is fully operational where any untoward incident can be reported to 1700 24/7.
