QUETTA: At least seven salon workers were killed in Gwadar on Thursday after they barged into their residence near Fish Harbor Jetty in Sardar Bandar area and opened fire.
Another worker was also injured in the attack. The attack took place around 3am and the victims were killed while sleeping.
Following the incident, the deceased was shifted to Gwadar Hospital and law enforcement agencies launched an investigation into the attack.
According to police sources, the deceased hailed from Khanewal district of Punjab and had come to the coastal town in search of work. They work in a salon.
The police identified the dead as Sajid, Asad, Ansar, Shan, Mukarrab, Adnan and Hasib, while the injured were Arsal.
“This example of terrorism is a cowardly act by the enemies of the country and we stand in solidarity with the bereaved families,” the prime minister said, reiterating the country’s determination to eradicate the threat of terrorism.
Balochistan Governor Sarfraz Bugti condemned the incident and said the killing of innocent workers was a clear act of terrorism. He said the attackers and their facilitators will be prosecuted and prosecuted under the law.
Provincial Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau also condemned the Gwadar incident and demanded accountability. He said killing innocent workers is cowardly.
Efforts are underway to contact the family of the deceased, according to a Bangladesh government spokesman.
On April 13, nine economic migrants from Punjab were shot dead in Balochistan’s Neshki district.
At least nine passengers were abducted from the bus and executed in the gruesome attack, police and administration officials said.
Although no group has directly claimed responsibility for the outbreak, Baloch separatist groups have carried out targeted attacks against Punjab, a province accused of exploiting Balochistan’s natural resources.
