Islamabad: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in the federal capital has warned that it will declare Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and other suspects as “fugitives” for failing to appear in court.
The statement was made by ATC judge Tahir Abbas Supra while hearing Pakistan Tehreek Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and other party leaders in two cases of vandalism and violation of Section 144 of the Penal Code. (CrPC) at Sangjani police station and I-9 in the federal capital.
In today’s hearing, PTI leader Faisal Javed Khan, Ali Nawaz Awan, Wasiq Qayyum, Aamer Kiani and other suspects were acquitted by KP CM Gandapur and PTI leader Amir Mughal.
Responding to Supra’s ex parte bail plea, the judge said there was no valid reason to claim that he could not appear in court because he was out of town.
“We issued a non-bailable warrant for all the missing suspects,” said Judge Supra.
In response, the lawyer admitted that the case against the suspect was standard and assured that all the suspects would appear in court at the next hearing.
The Supra judge then said that suspects who failed to appear in court on July 8 would be declared “fugitives” and would not have to wait 30 days to report their fugitives to court.
The judge also said that the case will be resolved only if there is a case and otherwise.
“You must complete this case, it will only benefit you,” he said.
The court also sought a written reply from Adiala Jail regarding PTI founder’s appearance through video link.
The court then adjourned the two cases till July 8 and announced that the cases will be heard every day from the next hearing.
