Islamabad: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in the federal capital has quashed the conviction of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in the case of violent protests and violation of Section 144.
Gandapur filed a plea to stay the arrest warrant filed against him at the I-9 police station in the federal capital.
KP CM submitted earlier to the court that he could not attend the hearing due to his official engagement.
On July 2, the court issued a non-bailable order against Gandapur and other PTI leaders and warned that they will be declared criminals if they continue to disappear.
Gandapur tried to be released from attending the trial, saying he was not from the city.
However, Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra called the reason invalid. Gandapur’s lawyer then asked the court for another opportunity, confident that his client would be present at the next hearing.
However, Judge Sipra issued a non-bailable decision against KP CM. He said, if Gandapur attends the next hearing, the decision will be reconsidered. After appearing today, the judge withdrew the sentence.
