RAWALPINDI: The appropriate authorities have been instructed to make sure that the construction prohibition in Murree is strictly enforced.
A representative for the Murree district administration stated that the agency was enforcing the law strictly against rule breakers at the behest of Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, the Deputy Commissioner of Murree.
He told us that Capt. (retd) Qasim Ijaz, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR), verified the current operation against the ban violators by visiting various parts of Murree.
ADCR Murree visited several locations in Murree, such as Jhika Gali, Masiyari, the Express Highway, Shawala, and Fourth View Road, on the specific orders of the Punjab Government and Deputy Commissioner. There, he thoroughly examined the operation against unlawful construction.
He said that the Murree government had announced that no unlawful development would be permitted and that a massive operation against it had been initiated.
The perpetrators were facing severe legal consequences. He said that building and transporting building supplies into Murree are strictly prohibited.
The representative claimed that in addition to illegal buildings being dismantled, building supplies were also being taken.
He added that in order to assist tourists, the Murree district administration had established 13 centers at various locations throughout the city, including Satara Meel, Lower Topa, Jika Gali, GPO, Kashmir Point, Kuldana, Kali Matti, Masiyari, Sindhan, Sunny Bank, Bhorban, Thanda Jungle, and Saharbagla. These centers were established at the behest of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Liaquat Ali Chatta.
During the winter season, the Commissioner of the Rawalpindi Division had instructed the relevant authorities to furnish the tourists with every conceivable amenity.
He said that an extra 140 traffic police officers had been stationed in Murree as part of the contingency plan for the area.
The Commissioner had directed that local preparations for the plan’s implementation should proceed without delay.
He stated that traffic congestion is the main issue in Murree and that the most crucial aspect of traffic control is the work done by police and traffic wardens.
The administration was instructed to finalize all preparations for the winter season, and it is imperative that department personnel not be permitted to skip work.
He said that 13 SMDs in Murree City had been turned on and that public service announcements were being shown on them to educate visitors.
The Tourism Department also set up a helpline that is open around-the-clock to guide visitors and provide them with information about the weather and traffic.
Digital counting was used at the 17 Meel Toll Plaza to track the cars entering the city. He also said that 26 CCTV cameras had been placed on all major thoroughfares to keep an eye on traffic conditions.
Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, the Deputy Commissioner Murree, issued an order putting all departments on high alert due to the anticipated snowfall in the upcoming days.
