LAHORE: Former Pakistan captain Azhar Ali has highlighted what is happening with the defending champions Lahore Qalandars during the ongoing ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Lahore have lost three matches in a row and are currently fifth in the points table.
During an appearance on a local sports channel, Azhar said that Lahore is suffering due to the absence of Rashid Khan and poor captain Shaheen Afridi.
“I think Shaheen Afridi’s captaincy and bowling in Lahore have been exposed. Rashid Khan’s absence obviously hurts Lahore as they no longer have the comfort he provided other bowlers in the middle overs,” said Azhar.
“When the new batsman Iftikhar came to bat, they pounced on him with their legs even though it was raised. On the other hand, when they pounced on the stump, there was a third man in the circle. This shows that there was no coordination between the bowler and the captain.

“Shaheen and Haris did not bowl well. I think Lahore will gradually realize how difficult things are when you have limited resources.”
Multan Sultans edged out Lahore Qalandars in the seventh match of PSL ninth season at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Iftikhar Ahmed scored 24 runs in the 19th over to complete the chase of 167 in 19 overs. The 33-year-old was not out on 34 off 11 balls.
The chase led by Mohammad Rizwan displayed a mix of brilliance and challenge. Rizwan played the anchor innings, scoring 82 runs off 59 balls.
