Skipper Babar Azam said the green shirts should “stick to the basics and play easy cricket” as they prepare for the much-anticipated match between Pakistan and India in the T20 World Cup.
Pakistan’s first match will be against the United States, who defeated Canada by seven wickets in the opening match of the tournament hosted by the United States and the West Indies on June 6.
The match between Pakistan and India will be played on June 9 at the Eisenhower Park Stadium in Nassau County, New York, and the match will see increased security following reports of threats to the match.
In a podcast released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday, Babar spoke about the upcoming match against India. “The whole world is focused on the day of the India-Pakistan meeting.”
“Of course there will be nerves but we have to stay focused, stick to the basics and play easy cricket. It’s always a pressure game; “The more you stay cool and calm, believe in your abilities and work hard, then things will be easier.”
Babar, who returned to captain the team in both formats in March, said the India-Pakistan game was “always the most talked about”; it is widely discussed everywhere in the world. “
“Players have different passions and excitement. “What will happen is that everyone supports their country, so focus on the game,” he said.
The violinist also expressed concern about the challenges the ground conditions could pose in the US as his team will be playing “as a national team for the first time”.
To prepare for a good match, Babar said the team is “in the process of collecting various cricket and game-related information from the players playing there”.
