On while having dinner in our balcony, we noticed a small dot of fire on the nearby Mountain named Dob. As we live in a valley so we have a clear view of all mountains around us. Over the past few weeks, our region had already suffered from fires on the Adenzai, Jalilbaba, and Kamranai mountains. These mountains, once the most beautiful and green in our valley, were wasted by fires that destroyed trees, animal habitats, and raised the temperature as well.
The sight of yet another fire spreading uncontrollably in the summer heat was alarming. People in our area were worried about how to stop it. Many volunteered to fight the fire, including the 1122 Rescue team. Although it wasn’t their official duty as they are for emergency services like providing first aid to people suffered from accident, they stepped up to help, for which we are incredibly grateful. Their efforts, alongside those of the villagers, were heroic and essential in controlling the fire.
Fighting the fire is a risky and exhausting job. The intensity of the blaze caused some volunteers to faint from the heat and water shortage. The area lacked roads, making it difficult to transport water. Despite these challenges, volunteers reached the site quickly, working late into the night to stop the fire. We deeply appreciate their dedication. Without them, the fire might still be burning, with everyone waiting for rain to extinguish it.
We should keep in mind that, many of these fires were caused by human carelessness. Visitors often leave campfires unattended, leading to devastating consequences. Some people even set fires deliberately, without considering the destruction they cause. I urge everyone to be attentive and responsible. A small mistake can lead to significant destruction.
Additionally, we request the forest department to provide more support in firefighting efforts. The 1122 Rescue team, though commendable in their voluntary involvement, lacks the necessary facilities to tackle such fires effectively. Their courage and selflessness are invaluable, but they shouldn’t have to shoulder this burden alone.
In conclusion, we must all do our part to prevent forest fires. We need to be careful, responsible, and support those who fight these fires. Let’s work together to protect our beautiful mountain and preserve our natural environment…..
