SWABI: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Rubina Khalid said on Friday that the program aims to reduce poverty and strengthen the finances of the poor and needy sections of society.
He expressed his views during a visit to several BISP distribution centers in Swabi, where he reviewed the process of registration and distribution of stipend among beneficiaries.
Talking to the beneficiaries, former BISP Prime Minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto said that Shahid is a unique program to lift the poor section of society out of the cycle of poverty and enable them to live with dignity and respect.
Directing the BISP officials to provide the best facilities and assistance to women in these centres, he asked the beneficiaries to come to their respective centers to collect money after receiving a message from the official number 8171 to avoid protest in hot weather.
Rubina Khalid visited the application registration desk and observed the complete registration process of the beneficiaries there. He ensured that relevant staff had clear written instructions and displayed banners to guide patrons and other visitors.
He said, the new registration process for poor families is ongoing and applicants can register at their respective BISP tehsil offices. Rubina Khalid issued appropriate instructions to BISP officials to redress public grievances and provide the best conditions for women, and no riots or irregularities will be tolerated.
BISP Director General KP Zohra Aslam and senior officers of the program were present. They briefed the head of BISP about the services provided to people in SWIS.
Rubina Khalid took the opportunity to interact directly with BISP beneficiaries and listen to their problems and concerns. He demanded that women be treated with respect and courtesy.
He instructed the officials to liaise with the bank and solve the problem of the equipment and further instructed the officials to issue notes only when there is sufficient amount in the account.
