The UK has made changes to its visa rules to limit the number of people entering the country.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced that 745,000 people will travel to the UK in 2022.
Minimum wage requirements for skilled and family visas have been increased significantly to control the number of arrivals.
The annual salary limit for an experienced visa has been increased from £26,200 to £38,700, and for a family visa from £18,600 to £29,000. In particular, certain sectors, such as health, social care and education, are exempt from this salary requirement.
In addition, people working in the social care sector are not allowed to bring dependents into the UK. This policy change took effect on April 11.
What are the rules on the family visa?
Regarding family visas, those who wish to live with relatives who have been allowed to stay in the UK for more than six months must obtain a family visa.
By September 2023, approximately 82,395 family visas have been issued, allowing people to join their spouses, partners, children, parents or other relatives.
New England student visa rules
In terms of student visas, the UK government issued a total of 486,107 student visas between September 2022 and September 2023, the majority of which were granted to citizens of India, China, Nigeria, Pakistan and the United States.
Graduates can now apply for a visa for their spouse or children under 18 years of age. However, from January 2024, international postgraduates can take family members only if they are part of a research program.
In addition, graduates can stay in the UK for up to two years (or three years for PhD holders) on a postgraduate visa to find work.
