GUYANA: England captain Jos Buttler reached the milestone of completing 1000 runs in the T20 World Cup in the ongoing semi-final against India at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
Before Buttler, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardena had reached 1,000 runs.
Kohli has 1216 runs, Sharma 1211, Jayawardena 1016, Buttler 1013 runs.
Buttler scored 40 runs in 2012, 74 in 2014, 191 in 2016, 269 in 2021 and 225 in 2022. Buttler has scored 214 runs till this World Cup.
Earlier, India chased down 172 for England in the second semi-final. India did not get off to a good start as Kohli was dropped in the ongoing tournament after taking nine more wickets due to Reiss Topley’s wicket.
