Lahore: On World Environment Day, CBD Punjab reaffirmed its commitment to environment protection and conservation through several exciting initiatives. As the only LEED certified project in Pakistan, the Punjab CBD is setting a new benchmark for sustainable development in the region. Punjab’s CBD has successfully regenerated trees with 100% growth rate amid renowned environmental efforts and has demonstrated its commitment to increasing green cover and biodiversity. Additionally, around 20,000 saplings were planted near Kalma Chowk and in Prime Minister Quaid District, Punjab, contributing significantly to the green infrastructure of the city.
CBD Punjab has dedicated 70% of its area for green space, providing a healthier and more sustainable environment for the community. In an effort to conserve water resources, the project has installed a rainwater harvesting park that supports water conservation and helps manage urban runoff and reduce flooding. In addition, CBD Punjab has planted a Miyawaki Forest in Bab District, Punjab and created a special green space in CBD NSIT City, Pakistan’s first and largest IT city.
The theme of this year’s World Environment Day, ‘land restoration, combating desertification and drought’, resonates strongly with the mission of CBD Punjab. Imran Amin, CEO, CBD Punjab, said, “At CBD Punjab, we believe that sustainable development is not only a choice, but a responsibility. Our initiative reflects our commitment to protect the environment and our commitment to create a greener, more sustainable future. for Pakistan.”
Punjab’s CBD LEED certification demonstrates that it adheres to global standards of sustainability and environmental performance, reflecting the project’s innovative approach in incorporating environmentally friendly practices into urban development.
