LAHORE: International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Security Officer Dave Musker met Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Operating Officer Salman Nasser to discuss the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy plans.
The two met at Lahore’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) to discuss security measures and protocols to ensure a smooth tournament.
Naseere was accompanied by another PCB official and Musker reviewed the existing security arrangements in Lahore, and both sides held constructive talks to discuss the possibility of further improvements.
Earlier this month, ICC field consultant Andy Atkinson visited the National Stadium in Karachi. He shares the task of preparing the land for the mega event with the local ground staff.
Meanwhile, last month, a three-member ICC team inspected three places – Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. Event is scheduled for February 2025 and PCB shared draft schedule with ICC for matches at these three venues.
The eight-team tournament is expected to take place in two weeks, although the exact date has not been confirmed.
The event will mark the return of the ICC Champions Trophy after an eight-year hiatus, the last time in 2017, when Pakistan won the final by defeating India.
Confirmed teams for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy include Pakistan (host), India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan, England and Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajeev Shukla opened up about the Indian team’s visit to Pakistan for next year’s Champions Trophy.
Speaking to ANI, Shukla said that the BCCI will follow the directives of the federal government to send the Indian team to Pakistan.
“We will do whatever the government of India says about the Champions Trophy. We will send our team only if the Government of India allows it. So, we will follow the decision of the government of India,” he said.
