ISLAMABAD: After completing their postgraduate studies in the UK, the 2022-2023 cohort of 47 Chevening Scholars and 46 Commonwealth Scholars had the opportunity to reconnect and foster relationships that will last a lifetime.
The 2022–2023 cohorts were drawn from across Pakistan, with all provinces represented.
All scholars have benefited from fully-funded scholarships to study a range of subjects, including development, public health, climate change and business, at leading universities such as the University of Oxford and the London School of Economics.
He will now join a cohort of high-profile graduates from a variety of disciplines. These include the first Gilgit-Baltistan High Court Judge Amna Zamir Shah, prominent disability activist Abia Akram and the first Hazara minority lawyer Jalila Haider.
The British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott CMG OBE, said: “Our Chevening and Commonwealth Scholarships are at the pinnacle of the UK’s educational offering for Pakistan. These returning scholars have not only been educated at some of the world’s best universities, but have also expanded their professional networks and have experienced life in the UK. They take it with them as a return to their career and industry.”
Aurangzeb Kasi, a scholar from Balochistan said, “Chevening was a transformative experience that enriched me both academically and culturally. I look forward to using the global perspective I have gained to drive positive change in my community.”
