PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Ghandapur on Wednesday chaired an important law and order meeting here with all concerned authorities including the Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police.
The security officials briefed the chief minister about the overall law and order situation in the province with challenges, future action plans and other matters on behalf of the concerned authorities.
A decision was taken to release a fund of three billion rupees for the purchase of armored vehicles, weapons and other modern equipment for the police.
The Chief Minister announced the inclusion of heirs of police martyrs in the Ramadan package. He said that Rs 10,000 would be given to the heirs of police martyrs under the provincial government’s Ramadan package.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Ghandapur also took the well-known decisions for the children of police martyrs and directed the relevant authorities to fix a one-time quota for the recruitment of children of all martyrs under the Shahada quota.
For this purpose, a case should be prepared for the approval of the cabinet, the chief minister directed the meeting.
It is worth noting here that by setting a one-time quota, all children of martyrs waiting to be recruited under the martyr quota will be able to be recruited at the same time.
Children of police martyrs have been waiting for recruitment for many years due to low quota of martyrs, the meeting was told. Work should be done to launch the Safe City project in all the divisional headquarters of the province, the Chief Minister ordered.
Issues related to the establishment of a security department within the police for the security of important personalities and facilities were also discussed at the meeting. Chief Minister’s instruction to the concerned authorities to formulate a workable policy to ensure the safety of important persons.
Law and order is the highest priority of the provincial government, said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Ghandapur. There will be no compromise on law and order, he added.
Stating that the police will be strengthened to handle any situation, the prime minister said, the funds required by the police will be given on priority for this purpose. APP
