ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi has said that China-Pakistan friendship is a constant source of peace, development and stability in South Asia and beyond.
In his remarks delivered at the 2025 World Peace Forum organized by Tsinghua University on China-South Asia Cooperation, he noted the special and unique relationship between the two countries, based on feelings of mutual respect, equality and good neighborly relations. , to call for cooperative, harmonious and mutually beneficial relations among South Asian nations as well.
Underscoring the inextricable link between sustainable development and peace, the ambassador praised China’s Global Security Initiatives (GSI), Global Development Initiative (GDI) and Global Civilization Initiative (GCI) for providing a comprehensive framework to promote dialogue and cooperation among nations, including those of South Asia.
Ambassador Hashmi thanked China for supporting Pakistan’s development journey through crucial investments under CPEC, made at a time when Pakistan needed them the most.
Appreciating the ongoing efforts to build a China Pakistan Community of Shared Future, he termed CPEC as a modern manifestation of the ancient Silk Road that connected China and South Asia and facilitated people-to-people connections and trade ties.
The ambassador also praised China’s consistent and principled stance on Jammu and Kashmir, with emphasis on the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions for a just and lasting settlement of the dispute.
He called for breathing new life into the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) with a progressive approach guided by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
